There Are Angels Among Us

 

We have grown more attached to our technological devices

They have grown into just about every area of our lives

They help us connect with our loved ones

Technology is now the foundation of work

It shops for us

Sometimes it is the medium for our healthcare

We get our news through technology

Our world is brought to us through it

It is what is getting us through the pandemic

It brings us entertainment and relief

We learn how to do things and get answers from the web

When we’re lonely we turn to our devices

Social media helps us escape the fear and anxiety that creeps up inside our bodies

We laugh and get touched by what we encounter on the phone, tablet or laptop

We can send whatever is happening inside us, what we discover, to someone we know that is across the country or even on the other side of the planet

It is remarkable how I feel a strong desire, the need, to touch my loved ones, to see them, to be with them, to feel them, to be felt by them

And I can’t

This virus has all of us trapped

And I depend on Zoom, Facetime

I resent that I am dependent on my internet provider, the phone, the computer, to meet my need of loving and being loved

Yet I am grateful

Underneath it all, the fact we have been constrained, emotionally and physically controlled by this micro-viral attack, that was mis-handled by the current administration, renders me to feel so angry, resentful, and shockingly startled

I feel what is most important is to love the ones that we love

Have faith that there is a purpose in all of this

Know that change is coming

Understand that life unfolds with lessons for all of us

There are Angels among us

  The email said she would like to schedule an appointment for counseling with me. She really loves my approach. She wants to work on relationship issues. I made the decision to stop seeing clients the end of April which is five months away. Why is it so hard for me to reply to this person? To tell her I can't see her. The Changing Season

How I Spend My Time

  I scrutinize how I spend my time. What am I doing that is making someone else’s life better? Do I self-judge or am I just conscience about how much pain there is out there? When I suffer is it just mine or is it everyone’s?
